Frequently Asked Questions

Who will pay my insurance bills after an accident?

File medical bills on your health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. If you have PIP or Med Pay coverage on your own automobile, it should pay for your medical bills up to the amount of coverage that you have in place. The at-fault driver’s insurance company will not pay medical bills as they occur. Most importantly, you need to get medical attention immediately.

How much is my case worth?

It is impossible to determine the amount your case is worth without knowing all of the facts. Some of the information needed to determine the value of your case includes: past and future medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. You will need to meet with an attorney so that all of the aspects of your case can be figured out and the attorney can compare it to other similar cases to come to a reasonable range that you might expect to receive.

What if I am hit by someone who does not have insurance or enough insurance?

The only way to protect yourself is to carry uninsured insurance or underinsured insurance on your own policy. This coverage pays for your injuries, damages, and losses if the at-fault driver had no insurance or not enough insurance.

Should I give the insurance company a statement?

No. You need to know what to expect before you give a statement. You want to understand the terminology and you certainly do not want to give a statement while medicated.

Do I really need a lawyer?

You may or may not need an attorney. If you are not hurt or the accident was your fault, an attorney is not going to help you pursue a personal injury claim. For all other cases, I would suggest that you consult an attorney.
